Andesite is the name used for a family of fine-grained, extrusive igneous rocks that are usually light to dark gray in color. They often weather to various shades of brown, and these specimens must be broken for proper examination. Andesite is rich in plagioclase feldspar minerals and may contain biotite, pyroxenes, or amphiboles. Andesite usually does not contain quartz or olivine.

Andesite Cobblestone The word cobblestone is derived from the English word “cob”, which means something round or lumpy. For thousands of years, they’ve been used in many different societies to create paved roads, which were a huge step up from dirt paths.

Andesite Cobblestones are ideal paving material for driveways because of their long-lasting durable quality, which provides traction on steep surfaces. They are also commonly used for driveway aprons and driveway edging, as well as edging for planter beds in the center of the driveway.
